Located in beautiful Trent Hills, our charming, rustic, much-loved old barn, built in 1930, was lovingly restored for our oldest daughter’s wedding. Surrounded by old English stone fences and nestled in the pastoral setting of a wonderful farming community, she once again came to life.

This cottage is a lovely family home with tasteful simplistic decor – a nice color palette of blues and golds and a mix of modern and antiques. It looks small on the outside but the inside is nice and spacious. The beds were VERY plush and comfortable, with soft sheets – and they let us know that the pull-out couch’s mattress had been changed to something nicer. My kids fought over who could sleep in it, which never happens! They are on well water and let us know that it’s best not to drink from the tap – and they had a nice full Culligan water bottle waiting for us, with one on standby, which I appreciated! Kitchen’s fully stocked with a Nespresso machine and antique plates, and one drawer had fall and Christmas decor stored – more evidence of the owner’s decorating talent. The back deck was lovely to sit on. My 12 and 16 year old kids had a reading hour out there – and that also NEVER happens! We made use of the grill both nights we stayed, and also the kayak and canoe! LOVED IT.
Meghan’s place was very well stocked with everything you would need (and more!) and it was spotless. However – you can’t swim off the dock, it’s too shallow and weedy, with no swim ladder and we were told you need your own boat to get to the middle of the lake to swim. The dock is also quite small with no chairs so you couldn’t hang out on the dock. Otherwise the place was great inside and had a nice covered back porch.
We stayed at Meghan and Nancy’s place for one week during July. It is truly a beautiful and relaxing place. You sometimes hear the loons which only add to the ambiance. There is available every dish, cutlery, pot or pan that you could need. The beds were comfortable. The front yard had space to park our 2 vehicles. The backyard was bliss.There were comfy chairs and lounges and nothing but peace and quiet. The neighbors are very quiet.The cottage was very clean. We would have stayed longer except for prior commitments. Nancy was so responsive to any calls.
Meghan and Nancy were outstanding hosts and their property is incredible. Every detail and potential need had been thought of and accounted for. As a guest, my partner and I felt truly “hosted”. Their communication was great and they were very understanding and accommodating with a later check-out time, giving me a little extra sleep-in time after working an event in the area the evening before. I full heartedly recommend this gorgeous property to anyone looking for a place to stay in the area! Cannot say enough nice things! 5+ stars all round!!
My husband and I stayed here over the Family Day weekend as a romantic private getaway. We were extremely happy with the cottage and the beautiful outdoor landscape and amenities that came with it. It was lovely to have the cottage fully equipped with all the essentials expect our personal belongings. The communication with the property manager was excellent and very timely. If you’re looking to reconnect and recharge, this is the place! We left with full hearts.
