Rylstone Cottage Retreat

1. Reservation & Payment
To secure your stay at Rylstone Cottage Retreat, full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise arranged. Your reservation is confirmed once payment has been received and a confirmation email has been issued.
2. Security Deposit
A refundable security deposit of $200 CAD may be held prior to arrival. This deposit is returned within 5–7 business days following departure, provided the cottage is left in respectful condition and no damage or additional cleaning is required.
3. Cancellations
We understand that plans can change. Cancellations made 30 or more days prior to arrival will receive a full refund, less a $200 administrative fee. Cancellations made between 14 and 30 days prior to arrival are eligible for a 50% refund. Cancellations made less than 14 days before arrival are non-refundable.
4. Arrival & Departure
Check-in is available after 3:00 PM and check-out is before 11:00 AM. Early arrival or late departure may be accommodated when possible and with prior approval.
5. Occupancy
Rylstone Cottage Retreat is designed for comfort and quality over capacity. The cottage is ideally suited for four guests, with a maximum occupancy of six guests permitted with prior approval. Only registered guests are permitted on the property unless otherwise agreed in advance.
6. The Experience
Rylstone Cottage Retreat is a quiet, private space intended for rest, connection, and relaxation. It is not suited for parties or large gatherings. Guests are expected to respect the property, neighbouring cottages, and the natural surroundings.
7. Wedding & Event Stays
The cottage is often reserved by guests attending weddings at nearby venues. While we welcome wedding-related stays, the cottage itself is not a venue for events or gatherings and is intended as a calm extension of your experience.
8. Quiet Enjoyment
Quiet hours are observed between 10:00 PM and 8:00 AM. Guests are expected to maintain a respectful noise level at all times.
9. Pets
Pets are welcome with prior approval at the time of booking. Guests are responsible for ensuring their pets are well-behaved and do not cause damage or disruption.
10. Smoke-Free Environment
Rylstone Cottage Retreat is a non-smoking interior space. Smoking or vaping is permitted outdoors only. Evidence of smoking inside will result in a $200 cleaning fee.
11. Care of the Cottage
Guests are expected to leave the space in a tidy condition, with dishes cleaned, garbage disposed of, and furnishings returned to their original placement.
12. Damages
Guests are responsible for any damage to the property or its contents during their stay. Costs for repair or replacement will be charged as necessary.
13. Septic & Water Systems
The cottage operates on a private septic system. Only toilet paper may be flushed, and guests should be mindful of water usage.
14. Lake, Dock & Outdoor Use
Use of the lake, dock, and surrounding areas is at the guest’s own risk. Children must be supervised at all times near the water.
15. Fire Pit & BBQ
The outdoor fire pit is provided as part of the Rylstone Cottage Retreat experience and may be used responsibly for recreational enjoyment. All fires must be contained within the designated fire pit area and must never be left unattended at any time. Guests are responsible for ensuring that fires are fully extinguished before leaving the area or retiring for the evening.
All fire use must comply with the current open-air burning regulations set by the Municipality of Stirling-Rawdon. Guests are required to follow all applicable burn rules, including any seasonal restrictions or fire bans that may be in effect at the time of their stay. Fires must be kept to a safe and manageable size using appropriate firewood only. Burning of garbage, construction materials, or any prohibited substances is strictly not permitted. Weather conditions such as wind or dry conditions should always be considered before starting a fire.
The BBQ is available for guest use and should be operated with care. Guests are asked to clean the BBQ after each use and ensure it is turned off properly.
Failure to follow fire safety regulations may result in immediate termination of fire privileges and, where necessary, additional charges or liability for any resulting damage or fines.
16. Parking
On-site parking is available for registered guests. Vehicles must be parked in designated areas.
17. Connectivity
Wi-Fi is provided for convenience. Service may vary due to the rural location and is not guaranteed.
18. Access & Maintenance
The owner or property manager may access the property if necessary for maintenance or emergencies, with notice whenever possible.
19. Liability
Guests assume full responsibility for their safety and belongings. The property owner is not liable for injury, loss, or damage.
20. Agreement
By confirming a reservation, guests acknowledge that they have read and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.
